Labor Day is approaching and the days of summer are running out. Lowell Heritage State Park
Located only 30 minutes away from Wilmington, this state park offers opportunities for kayaking and boating, as well as a some history of Lowell as an integral mill town.
The park is located at 160 Pawtucket Boulevard, Lowell, MA 01854, but not too far upstream you can get a nice view of Pawtucket Falls. Additionally you can walk around some of the canals in Lowell in order to get a better idea of the history of the place.
Harold Parker State Forest
A bit closer to Wilmington is the Harold Parker State Forest in Andover. This large park offers camping and water activities, allowing you to soak up the last few days of summer activity.
Lawrence Heritage State Park
If you’re more interested in history than outdoor activities you may want to consider Lawrence Heritage State Park in Lawrence, MA. Just 20 minutes from Wilmington, this park and museum offers fascinating insight and education about what it takes to grow an industrial town like Lawrence.
